Overview

Join Berkeley SafeTREC, Los Angeles Department of Transportation, and City of San Jose to learn more about emerging ideas and technology for pedestrian safety.

·         Berkeley SafeTREC "Street Story: How can we create inclusive community engagement technologies?" The presentation will be focused on ways to integrate new technologies with non-traditional partnerships in order to develop more inclusive community engagement. The presentation will highlight work completed in Bakersfield, CA. The intent of the tool, and outreach for it, is to bring voices of communities of concern to the forefront of community safety planning. The session will discuss ways to address how technology may be a hurdle for some underserved communities, and how to overcome that barrier.

·         City of San Jose will describe the history and development of our ongoing regional pedestrian wayfinding effort. How is the region collaborating to develop accessible, consistent pedestrian wayfinding that is geographically and culturally sensitive and specific?

·         Los Angeles Department of Transportation will share their new Safe Routes for Seniors methodology.
