Overview

The Place It! Workshop is an inclusive visioning tool that helps citizens take ownership of the street trough creative problem solving. The workshop breaks down barriers by humanizing in the planning process through storytelling, objects, art-making and play. Through this process participants tap their on-the-ground knowledge, attachment to place, memories, and imaginations to generate innovated solutions for self-determination. Participants use their visual and spatial knowledge of neighborhoods to communicate, and collaborate. This process raises people’s awareness of the built environment and how it impacts their experience of place and others. The Place It! Workshop allows participants to reflect, listen, learn, bond, and collaborate. This is achieved through two activities, the first one being individual where people build their favorite childhood memory and the second being a team building exercise where they are given a street challenge.
