Activating UNDERutilized Spaces. 

An elevated portion of I-35 through downtown Kansas City, Missouri creates a series of underutilized and unwelcoming vacant spaces. Explore potential concepts to transform the pockets of neglected urban spaces into valued public amenities.

How to build a Human Scale Neighborhood. 

Neighborhood character is an imprecise concept that planners are often charged with protecting, strengthening, and sometimes creating anew through policies and regulations.   We struggle with difficult questions on architectural style, housing intensity, building sizes, and quality materials.  In our experience these  debates on style, quality and character miss what people really value the most the simple patterns of human scale neighborhood design that were lost when we  started prioritizing cars over people.

Short Term Rental Regulations in a Large Town or City. 

Preliminary research into Airbnb and short-term rental regulations in towns and cities with a population less than 300 thousand. Despite the lack of academic literature on smaller cites Airbnb regulations, policies may vary across the United Sates.

Efficient and Effective Stakeholder Charrettes and Public Meetings.
