There continues to be ongoing legislation at the state and federal levels that have direct impacts on our communities and the planning profession. The purpose of this legislative forum is twofold. First, the speakers will discuss current legislation that is under consideration at both levels and the potential impacts (good and bad) to our communities. Second, the speakers will also talk about ways that you, as planners, can get involved in advocating for communities and planning. The learning objective/takeaway points include: 1. Learn about recent bills and administrative activities at the state and federal level that you need to be aware of, as well as the potential benefits or consequences to the passing of such legislation. 2. Hear about APA's advocacy efforts that range from the development of policy priorities and guides to the participation in Planners' Day on the Hill to advocate for planning 3. Have a discussion about what the state APA chapters should be doing to help advocate for better planning outcomes in both Kansas and Missouri.
