Ryan Peterson will conduct the bike sharing seminar. Ryan is the Bicycle & Pedestrian Coordinator for Kane County and also serves as a Regional Planning Liaison for the Kane Kendall Council of Mayors. Ryan attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where he earned his undergraduate degree in Urban Studies and his Master’s degree in Urban Planning. Since joining the Kane Kendall Council of Mayors, Ryan has worked to advocate further for more bicycle and pedestrian policies and infrastructure and assist in the advancement of sustainable modes of transportation in the region.

This portion of the workshop will focus on the basics of bike sharing. The seminar will give attendees a basic overview of bike sharing systems, information about the capital and operational costs of a bike sharing system, instruction on how to select the right system configuration for your community, and a guide on how to create realistic objectives for a bike sharing system. The presentation will conclude with dispelling common myths that people often have regarding bike share. Following the presentation, there will a panelist discussion, with an opportunity for attendees to ask questions of the panelists.
