Overview

Frank Jenkins, known throughout Georgia as a zoning law guru, will lead a session on

best legal practices in planning & zoning law, including reflections on recent development-related

court cases, for local government staff members, appointed Board members, and elected officials.

Zoning has traditionally been used primarily to separate uses that may not coexist well on adjacent

properties... but zoning can do much more for a community. Planning & Zoning tools for revitalization

are found at both the local and State level, and can apply to a neighborhood; road corridor; certain

uses (such as density incentives for quality residential development); or an entire community. This

session will include a discussion of revitalization planning & zoning tools.
