“Building World-Class Streets: Learning from Cambridge”. 

Join Jerry Friedman, Supervising Engineer at the City of Cambridge’s Department of Public Works, for a workshop on Cambridge’s long-running and successful “complete streets” program.  Participants will learn to how to communicate about projects to neighborhoods, facilitate an integrated design process, minimize disruption to community life, and provide reasonable access for all users during reconstruction.  Three case studies will be examined, along with “lessons learned” about pedestrian priorities, accessibility, bicycle connectivity, neighborhood character and green infrastructure that planners can use in their daily work.  A moderated discussion will take place after the presentation.
