Overview

APA Southern Nevada Section, in partnership with Lisa Wise Consulting, Inc will host a training workshop on form-based code principles and how they are implemented and utilized by the development community. Attendees will receive a brief introduction to form based codes as a zoning tool, and then participate in a hands-on training exercise with several potential development projects. Planners will learn form-based code terminology and classifications, an overview of project and building types, the legal basis of form-based codes, and how to adapt them to different types of communities. Discussion will also include zoning reform and the benefits of form-based coding. Some misconceptions about form-based ocdes will be reviewed, followed by exervises that apply a code standard to a specific site, including a discussion of the overall effectiveness and usability of code approaches.
