The keynote speaker of the event will be Ed Barsotti, the Chief Program Officer for Ride Illinois, a nonprofit bicycle advocacy group. The seminar will be on Monday, March 18, 2019 from 10:00 am until noon at the Kane County Government Center (719 S Batavia Ave, Geneva, IL 60134). The seminar will focus on Ed's presentation, “Bikeway Design Strategies:  Off- and On-Road in Suburban and Rural Areas”.   The toolbox of available and new bikeway types will be summarized to help attendees know which is most appropriate in particular contexts, from suburban downtowns to rural areas.  Intersection safety issues, uncontrolled trail crossings, and bike parking will also be discussed.  Several examples will illustrate how road projects can be opportunities to improve bicycling conditions, through small-scale or larger design changes.
