Leveraging Funding Opportunities to Support Master Planning

The Mid-America Regional Council (MARC), the metropolitan planning organization for the Kansas City region, provides funding opportunities for projects across the region. Two recent grantees will discuss how they have utilized these funding opportunities to advance Master Planning visions within their respective communities. Sara Copeland, AICP will discuss her experience leveraging funding to advance planning initiatives in North Kansas City, Missouri while Michael Carmona will discuss how organizations such as the Hispanic Economic Development Council have collaborated with planning partners to benefit from available funding.
Attendees at this program will:
(1) Understand how Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) funding has been used across the Kansas City region for master plan development and economic development;
(2) Discuss the strategy behind funding applications and how to navigate MPO requirements after selection;
(3) Explore eligible types of projects and funding opportunities to help fulfill planning visions and enhance communities; and
(4) Gain skills to write and submit funding applications in the future.
