Overview

The 2040 Brooklyn Center Comprehensive Plan will pivot the City toward a pattern that supports transit, mixes land uses, nd leverages diverstiy as an advantage.  Called Becoming Brooklyn Center, the plan embraces the idea that places -- like people -- are each on a path of growth and change, a constant state of 'becoming.'

To implement this bold vision, the City is creating new zoning districts, rewriting the zoning code, and creating district master plans, including Brooklyn Boulevard.

Within the effort, the City has partnered with a developer to create a new downtown Brooklyn Center.  The first phase will include 1,500 housing units, commercial space, destiantion recreational facilities, and green space.  The City is working with the development team and the community about how the project might address equity, access, and dispartities.
