World Town Planning Day

Mark your calendars for November 8, when APA and the International Division will join planners and planning organizations worldwide in celebrating World Town Planning Day. Online lectures and discussions will address the global application of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals and New Urban Agenda, including planning for all-age communities, regional and territorial environmental planning, and cultural heritage planning.

Follow APA on Twitter (@APA_Planning) as we bring you content throughout the day, and join the global conversation using #WTPD2017. Go to planning.org/wtpd for more information on 2017 WTPD programming.
Double your impact on hurricane recovery

In response to the massive wind- and flood-related damage to communities from recent hurricanes, individual donations made online to the APA Foundation's Community Assistance Fund through December 31, 2017, will be allocated to recovery efforts and matched, dollar for dollar, by the APA Foundation.

NATIONAL COMMUNITY PLANNING MONTH
Help choose the 2017 People's Choice

National Community Planning Month concludes with selection of the Great Places in America People's Choice. Last month, planners and others suggested neighborhoods, streets, and public spaces dear to their hearts. These five places rose to the top of the list: Douglas Avenue in Wichita, Kansas; Downtown Golden, Colorado; the Rochester (New York) Public Market; the John and Mary Pappajohn Sculpture Park in Des Moines, Iowa; and the Greenville (South Carolina) Health System Swamp Rabbit Trail.

Cast your vote — early and often — for the People's Choice by November 7. We'll announce the winner in next week's Interact.
How did you celebrate planning month?

Planners hosted an array of activities to demonstrate innovation in planning and the value planning brings to our communities. Events around the country marked the 10-year anniversary of Great Places in America, planners engaged with elected officials during Planners' Day on Capitol Hill, and APA hosted a symposium on automated vehicles. Read our rundown of Planning Month activities.
