POLICY AND ADVOCACY
One week to designate Opportunity Zones

The federal Opportunity Zones program established by the 2017 tax reform law is the first new community-development tax-incentive program in decades. But the timing is tight; by March 21, governors must designate eligible communities as Opportunity Zones or request 30-day extensions.

RESOURCES
Urban Mapping, Aerial Photography and Duplicating: Some Basic Elements

Maps are essential tools of city planning. Today, planners use GIS technology to make maps with a few mouse clicks, but it wasn't always so easy. This month's historic PAS report from 1951 reveals the mid-20th century state of map-making, including a review of not-so-cutting-edge duplication processes (think mimeographs).
AICP
CM grace period ends April 30

Don't let your AICP membership lapse! Although the 2016–17 Certification Maintenance reporting period ended on December 31, AICP members in that cohort may earn and log required CM credits through April 30. Don't miss that deadline! Your AICP membership will lapse if you fail to log all required credits, and you will have to go through reinstatement before using your AICP credential again.
