Gender mainstreaming aims to reduce harmful impacts that may result when program or policy decisions are made without gender considerations. Applying a gender lens can lead to planning decisions that protect the integrity and dignity of all people.

The newest edition of PAS QuickNotes — briefing papers that explain planning basics for public officials and engaged citizens — introduces the concept of gender mainstreaming and summarizes how local officials and planners can begin integrating gender equity considerations into planning processes.

Plus: Dive deeper into gender mainstreaming with a recent PAS Memo explaining why the practice can — and should — be integrated into U.S. planning.

Shaped by play
At Landscape Structures, we believe playstructures should complement their surroundings. But more than that they should complement childhood. Every aesthetic choice is also backed by evidence to challenge, excite and energize kids of all abilities. Because better play shapes kids into better adults.
