Southwest Iowa Planning Council (SWIPCO) seeks a community development specialist for a two year grant funded position to spearhead economic recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic in Southwest Iowa.
This is a professional position that works closely with local, regional, state, and federal stakeholders to identify needs and resources to aid with economic recovery. The position will also oversee the delivery of revolving loan funds to businesses impacted by Covid-19.
This position is funded through the Economic Development Administration until June 30, 2022. Further employment beyond that date may be possible as funding, workload, and other factors allow.
Successful candidates should have a strong desire to help the region recover and be more resilient in the future. Experience with economic development, local government, finance, business, or public administration is preferred, though many backgrounds may be considered. The position is anticipated to work primarily remotely, but will have extensive travel throughout the SWIPCO region once pandemic mitigation measures allow. Residency within or near the region is required.
Salary is anticipated to be $50,000 per year with a very competitive benefits package, including IPERS.
