Job Summary - The City of Lawrence cares about its community and strives to ensure all residents have affordable and safe housing, which is paramount to the quality of life we all enjoy. We are seeking a creative, highly skilled, and collaborative individual to help shape and implement affordable housing policies, programs, and efforts in Lawrence, Kansas.
Job Responsibilities - This position serves as the staff liaison to the Affordable Housing Advisory Board and works with various groups serving as a team lead/project manager coordinating financing and development applications and administers the city’s Housing Trust Fund. To that end, this position will lead community affordable housing efforts by providing a variety of analytical, technical, and administrative tasks related to affordable housing efforts. This individual will also be expected to research and write grants and programs related to affordable housing.
Candidates must have knowledge of the planning principles and practices related to affordable housing development and financing applications, strong communication skills, and be a creative problem-solver.
Qualifications - Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in planning, urban design, public administration, or a closely related field. A Master’s degree is preferred. Experience with affordable housing programs required and two years of increasingly responsible professional experience in administering affordable housing programs preferred. Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate valid driver’s license, and various job-related certifications as deemed appropriate by staff.
