This guide addresses appropriate solar installations for historic buildings as well as new and infill construction in this district. The Design Guidelines for its historic district include a section on Energy Conservation and Generation that provides design guidelines for minimizing visual impacts of solar panels on the character of properties (§3.77). This includes illustrations of preferred and acceptable locations on a sample building.

The guide also provides guidelines for new and infill construction that emphasize encouraging appropriate solar collectors and maximizing solar access for all properties (§5.10-5.15, 5.18).
