Solar Energy

The city's Land Development Code includes design review standards for new construction and expansion address solar exposure. It requires buildings be located to take advantage of solar efficiences wherever possible (§17.28.050, Exh. 28-1).

Grayfields Reuse and Redevelopment

The city's Land Development Code requires owners of retail buildings greater than 60,000 square feet must enter an agreement with the city. Prior to issuance of a building permit, this prohibits the owner from preventing or limiting the reuse of the building, requires a long-term maintenance plan, requires a demolition or adaptive reuse plan, and potentially other provisions that may be necessary (§.17.20.5.040).
