Solar Energy

The town's zoning bylaw seeks to promote large-scale solar PV installations as a primary land use by providing standards for construction, operation, modification and removal of large installations (§§300-144–147). A site plan that meets design and density standards, an operation and maintenance plan, and emergency services plan are needed to receive a permit (§§300-145.2–300-146.7). It notes that "nothing in this article should be construed to prevent the installation of accessory roof mounted solar photovoltaic installations" (§300-144.1.B).

The definitions section includes "solar photovoltaic array," "on-site solar photovoltaic installation," and "large-scale solar photovoltaic installation" (§300-5).

The Table of Use Regulations lists large-scale and on-site solar photovoltaic installations as permitted uses in low density residential, office park, commercial IV, and light industrial use districts (300 Attachment 1).
