Food Systems | Urban Livestock

The city code's animal chapter establishes requirements for keeping livestock and fowl (§5-26). It prohibits livestock within the city if kept less than 100 feet from residences and other establishments and if less than 5,000 SF of space is provided per animal. Fowl are prohibited if kept less than 150 feet from residences and other establishments and if less than 20 SF of space are provided for each fowl. Roosters are prohibited within the city. Swine are prohibited, with the exception of 2 potbellied pigs per location in the city; standards for keeping and care are provided. General standards for sanitary livestock keeping conditions are established (§5-29).
