The city's zoning code includes a chapter on animal keeping in residential zones (Chapter 11.32). Animals except for roosters and pigs may be kept on any parcel used as a single-family residence (§11.32.030). Horses, cows, sheep, goats, and other hoofed animals require a minimum parcel size of 15,000 SF; 2 animals are allowed, with additional animals permitted on larger lot sizes to a maximum of 5; young animals may be kept in addition with a permit.

Farm fowl (chickens, ducks, and geese) require a minimum parcel size of 15,000 SF; 6 fowl are allowed with additional fowl permitted on larger lot sizes to a maximum of 20 chickens, 12 ducks, or 3 geese. Standards address the location and setbacks of enclosures or coops (§11.32.060).

Other standards address maintenance of premises (§11.32.070). Additional animals may be kept upon approval of an excess animal permit (§11.32.100). The code also addresses defining and abatement of animal nuisances (§11.32.175–250).
