Farmland Protection

The township’s zoning ordinance addresses farmland protection. The township’s Agricultural Zone (§202 et seq.) is established to permit, protect, and encourage the continued use of land for agricultural purposes.  Subdivision of parcels is governed by strict sliding-scale restrictions designed to preserve large farm tracts. Numbers of dwelling units are limited by size of parcel, and new dwelling units must be located on lots contained within areas of low-quality agricultural land, as defined by the ordinance, to minimize interference with agricultural production.
