The initial section of the survey sought to identify some of the professional characteristics of respondents. The purpose was to allow APA staff to better understand the nature and geographic distribution of APA's coastal community membership and also differentiate some of their responses to later questions.

Questions about professional characteristics targeted the respondents' professional roles (e.g., coastal versus non-coastal practitioner, public versus private sector, etc.), regions served, types and sizes of jurisdictions served (if public sector), and AICP certification status (asked at the very end of the survey so as not to dissuade non-AICP member responses).

The links below connect to a detailed breakdown of the responses to professional characteristics questions. It is also worth noting that the first question, about the respondents' professional roles, screened out any respondents who indicated they had not or did not currently work for a coastal jurisdiction.
