This includes but is not limited to subdivisions of varying complexity, variances, conditional use permits, map amendments, and other similar administrative approvals and requests before the combined Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) and Plan Commission (PC). This position will assist with research for economic programs that attract, retain and expand the commercial, industrial and economic base of the Village. This position may also require problem-solving, technical research skills, and creative thinking for land use planning and other special projects.
Duties Include: Process, review, and document development projects including subdivisions, development plans, variance requests, and other similar applications. Analysis of development proposals in comparison with applicable Development Ordinances and other appropriate standards.
Preparation and presentation of administrative staff reports to the combined Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) and Plan Commission (PC). Build and maintain a local network of collaborative partnership with small business stakeholders such as economic development practitioners in federal, state, regional and local government, chambers of commerce, business associations, small business lending programs, educational institutions and civic/community organizations. Assist in enforcing project approvals and Village ordinances.
Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Urban or Regional Planning, Geography, Landscape Architecture, or a related field of study may substitute years of experience for the degree. American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification is preferred.
Requirements
- Proficient with commonly used office software, including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, as well as telephone and internet communications.
- Effective prioritization and time management skills.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and demonstrate safe driving record.
- Must pass a background check, physical and drug screen.

Base Pay Range / year: $70k to $85k DOQ
