Three Dutch Dialogues were held in New Orleans post-Hurricane Katrina. Supported by the APA, local partners, and the Dutch Embassy, the dialogues brought a new model to designing urban-water management for flood-prone cities, led to the creation of the award-winning New Orleans Urban Water Plan, and formed the basis of numerous neighborhood flood-resiliency projects in New Orleans and elsewhere. The dialogues also partly inspired the APA's "water task force." But have they changed planners' approaches and practices? Have New Orleans and other cities changed how they design and construct water projects? Learn about the governance, planning, and procurement processes that have impeded full realization of the Dutch Dialogues goals and proposals.
