MORE SESSION DETAILS

Planners often blame their political atmosphere for not getting things done. Through this session, we will examine three comprehensive plan case studies within the cities of Boulder and Colorado Springs, Colorado, and the Orlando, Florida, metro region. Though words, techniques, and even values change in these communities, innovation in comprehensive planning can still been achieved. Learn how to use different techniques and methods that align with your communities’ values to achieve transformative outcomes. This session will identify how to speak the correct language and use tools and techniques to respond to the environment in which you plan. The moderator, who has completed more than 200 plans, will lead a discussion with the panelists and audience to explore these techniques in a way that demonstrates that we have many of the same planning goals in our great nation, whether we refer to vibrancy, sustainability, resiliency, or remaining competitive. During this lively conversation, learn how to rightsize your process, content, and plan delivery to maximize your ability to transform your community.
