ACTIVE TRANSPORTATION
This comprehensive plan integrates active transportation goals into its transportation chapter. A pedestrian and bicycle transportation plan (functional) is a required element, by ordinance, under the city’s comprehensive plan in compliance with the growth management laws. The plan focuses on cooperation with other plans in the region, and the Puget Sound MPO that overlaps its jurisdiction.
Shared Mobility
The city's comprehensive plan contains a Transportation Element that includes a transportation demand management (TDM) goal with solutions to encourage the shared use of vehicles and other emerging transportation options. Some of the policies in the chapter include developing regulations to increase the use of shared mobility (TR-9), promoting the use of shared mobility (TR-13), evaluating and implementing carsharing and bikesharing programs (TR-16), and facilitating commuter programs through small employers (TR-18).
