Grayfields Reuse and Redevelopment

The city's code of ordinances mandates that owners of vacant facilities over 25,000 square feet must provide a plan for maintenance of the site and avoidance of nuisances. A plan for removal or reuse of the facility must also be provided within 12 months of the start of vacancy. Lease agreements must not prohibit the marketing, leasing or renting of the facility to future tenants. Agreements must also require continuous occupancy for the duration of the agreement (§19.23.080).

These rules apply to buildings over 50,000 square feet in addition to other requirements unrelated to ghost box prevention (§19.23.090).
