Autonomous Vehicles

This report reviews the state of implementing autonomous vehicles (AVs), including planning and policy considerations. It identifies planning challenges, including low density AV use, mitigating unintended consequences, and changes to travel demand. It concludes by highlighting the challenge of regulating autonomous vehicles when the technology is in an experimental phase and the importance of proactive regulation to reduce negative impacts.
