Social Equity

This functional plan summarizes actions that will be taken by the local government to improve internal and external equity, diversity, and inclusion in the city of San Francisco. The plan begins by recognizing that historically exclusionary planning and land-use practices have contributed to structural disadvantage for social groups - including, but not limited to, Native American, Black, Asian, Latinx, and LGBTQ+ residents. The phase one goals of the city's Racial & Social Equity Initiative are:

  • Hiring, Promotions and Recruitment
  • Department Culture, Staff-Building Capacity and Core Competencies
  • Resource Allocation
  • Procurement and Consultatnts
  • Department Functions
