This report sought to understand the impacts Pennsylvania's long-standing farmland preservation programs have on the agricultural industry and the state's and counties' economies. Different chapters of this report provide a literature review of the economic impact of farmland preservation, explore a correlation between preserved farmland and lower property taxes, and discuss the environmental benefits of preserved farmland. It also presents recommendations to help policy and decision-makers consider options to increase the economic impact of farmland preservation programs.
