Urban Heat Resilience

This functional plan contains recommendations to help communities across the county address the risks associated with extreme heat events and urban heat. It presents cooling centers as facilities that help increase communities’ capacity to respond to heat emergencies (Strategy 1F); discusses the importance of integrating climate adaptation into planning, building, infrastructure, and community development decisions (Strategy 2A); and recommends equitable distribution of the urban tree canopy (Strategy 2D).
