Planning and Zoning Enabling Laws

This model state act presents statutory alternatives to help states develop and adopt laws that authorize medium-density, or middle, housing types, such as duplexes, triplexes, fourplexes, townhouses, and cottage courts. Provisions cover definitions, requirements, state responsibilities, and implementation. Other sections explore lessons learned from past efforts to enable middle housing and examples of existing laws and proposed legislation.
