Register or Transfer Exam
Step 1: Register for One Path to AICP When Prepared to Test
The One Path to AICP streamlines the certification process into three steps. All APA members are eligible to take the exam. Start your journey to AICP Certification. Download the AICP Certification Guide for full details.
APA members interested in an exam accommodation for English as a Second language consideration or for a disability must request the accommodation before registering for the exam. More information can be found in Appendix 2 in the AICP Certification Guide.
Ready to take the exam? Register for the certification program. You will be asked:
- To abide by the AICP Code of Ethics
- To agree to the Certification Agreement confirming you understand the eligibility requirements
- To confirm you have read the AICP Certification Guide
Within 24 hours of registering, you will receive an email with an Eligibility ID that will enable you to schedule an in-person or online remote exam appointment with Prometric for the upcoming test window. Please check your spam and junk folders if you do not receive this email. The Eligibility ID can also be found on your MyAICP page.
Be sure to refer to the scheduling information within the AICP Certification Guide for detailed information on appointment scheduling, testing procedures, and transfers.

Schedule your exam early in case any testing issues arise.
Transfer
You can transfer your exam registration to a future test window (May or November) if you've registered for the upcoming AICP Certification Exam and are no longer able to test during the current test window. You must cancel at least five days before your appointment.
- Cancel your existing exam appointment with Prometric if you scheduled your exam.
- Click on the link below. You will be asked to confirm that you do not have a scheduled exam.
- Pay the transfer fee.
Please note that transfers are allowed only one time. Once the transfer is redeemed, whether you take the exam or not, the registration cannot be transferred again.

NOTE: if you are trying to schedule your exam with Prometric, you do not need to transfer.
