JOB DESCRIPTION

Maury County Government is seeking a qualified professional to serve as Building and Zoning Director.

The Building and Zoning Director provides department-wide leadership and oversight of the County's Building, Zoning, Codes Enforcement, Permitting, and Development Services functions. The position reports directly to the County Mayor and supervises the Building Inspectors, Codes Enforcement staff, Zoning/Planning staff, Senior Engineer and administrative personnel.

The Director is responsible for department operations, personnel, budgeting, policies and procedures, development review, zoning administration, codes enforcement, and coordination with the Planning Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals. The position also oversees the County's floodplain administration, including coordination with consultants and engineers for floodplain reviews and the establishment and maintenance of comprehensive floodplain records.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in public administration, planning, civil engineering, architecture, construction management, business administration, or a related field, plus substantial progressively responsible experience in building inspection, planning, zoning, development services, construction, code administration, or public administration, including supervisory and administrative experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required: Valid Tennessee Driver's License and appropriate professional or technical certifications.

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience. Minimum salary range starting at $79,873.00/yr.
