Solar Energy

The city's municipal code outlines the use of net-metering to diversify the local energy portfolio, encourage private investment, and stimulate economic growth. It defines a solar system as a "net metering system" (§14.20.020.1). It allows for participation in net-metering for eligible "customer-generators" until the generating capacity of the net-metered systems equals 135 kWs (§14.20.030). The municipal code also encourages planned unit developments (PUDs) to include features that preserve solar access for the use of active and passive solar energy systems (§21.39.080.T).
