Solar Energy

This functional plan provides the town with a set of actions to meet each of the five criteria to achieve the Green Community designation. The first criterion is providing for the as-of-right siting of renewable or alternative energy generating facilities, renewable or alternative energy Research and Development facilities or renewable or alternative energy manufacturing facilities in designated locations including single ground-mounted of solar photovoltaic (p. 5).

Potential measures for the energy reduction plan include solar hot water systems (p. 24). Action items include providing model solar bylaws (Appendix A, p. 1).

The town approved the development of a solar array on the town's wastewater treatment plant property who plans to sell electricity to the town (p. 5).
