APA Advocacy in Action & Opportunities to Lead

Dear Member,

As planners, we help communities build stronger futures by bringing practical solutions and informed perspectives to local, state and federal decision-makers.

This week, APA volunteer advocates were on Capitol Hill advocating for planning and sharing the real-world stories, challenges and opportunities facing communities across the country.

A key part of our commitment to you is ensuring planning has a seat at the table when important decisions are being made. In meetings with Congressional leaders, APA advocate conversations focused on:

  • Advancing the next generation of housing supply reforms and shaping a stronger national housing agenda.

This work matters because planning matters. But our influence extends far beyond Washington. APA's greatest strength comes from you, our members, and the expertise, leadership and passion you bring to communities every day.

I've experienced that firsthand through volunteering with APA. Along the way, I've built lasting relationships, learned from talented colleagues and found meaningful opportunities to contribute to our profession while growing as a planner and leader.

That's why I'm excited to share that APA's Call for Volunteers is open through October 15.

Whether you're interested in advocacy, advancing the AICP credential, helping recognize planning excellence or supporting one of APA's many programs and initiatives, there's a volunteer opportunity that can match your interests and expertise. I encourage you to explore the opportunities and apply today.

APA is at its best when members step forward to lead. Your experience, perspective and ideas can help shape the future of the profession and strengthen the communities we serve.
