Karen A. Hundt, FAICP CUD
Karen Hundt has been at the forefront of groundbreaking sustainable urban redevelopment. She helped
make Chattanooga one of the most transformed cities in America. The plans and zoning reforms she has
led have resulted in many projects—streetscape improvements, greenways, parks, schools, grocery
stores—that have improved the built environment, increased support for resiliency planning, and
positively impacted the health of inner-city residents. Her dedication to community collaboration, both
locally and through national programs such as the President’s Council on Sustainable Development and
APA’s Planning Assistance Team, serves as a model process for urban redevelopment in cities across the country.
