Transportation planning in the Tyler urbanized area is performed by the Tyler Area Metropolitan Planning Organization, the designated MPO for the area, in close cooperation with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). TxDOT performs the travel demand forecast for the Tyler urbanized area using a traditional four-step model.

The trip generation model, TransCAD, requires population, number of households, average household size, median household income and employment for the base year and the forecast years as inputs for each Traffic Analysis Zone (TAZ).

The MPO is seeking a qualified consulting firm to assist in conducting the necessary data collection and analysis to develop this data for the 2018 base year model validation and the 2023, 2028, 2033, and 2050 travel forecasts.
