Comprehensive Plan
City of Godley
Godley, TX
The City of Godley, Texas is a small community located in Johnson County that is becoming increasingly accessible to the Fort Worth area. Godley has received tremendous interest from developers and homebuyers alike due to such valuable commodities as the Godley Independent School District and the ready availability of land primed for development of all types. Multiple housing developments have comprised the initial wave of land use attracting both regional and nationally recognized home builders. Future development will include significant commercial projects to support the growing population base.
The City of Godley is unique in that much of the development lies within the community's extraterritorial jurisdiction. The City seeks to position itself to respond in the most appropriate way allowed by state law and principles of managed and coordinated growth.
The Comprehensive Plan will play a critical role establishing and implementing a vision for the future of Godley. The plan will include, at a minimum, a land use plan and a thoroughfare plan and will guide the development of the City of Godley for the next 10 years. Elements that are important for consideration include parks and natural areas, housing, community facilities, downtown and other areas of focus, infrastructure, fiscal analysis, and community branding/identity. The study will include a thorough and comprehensive community engagement process that will involve the advisory committee, key stakeholders, members of the public, and more. The Comprehensive Plan will establish a framework of highly actionable items, policies and programs intended to guide implementation of proposed improvements and ensure sustainable growth of the City of Godley.
