Economic Development Plan

The City of South Burlington, Vermont (the "City") is seeking proposals from forward thinking firms with demonstrated experience in providing data collection and stakeholder engagement resulting in an economic development strategic plan.
Award of contract will be in December 2024. Procurement for selection of the consultant will be a one step process with up to four finalists selected for interviews. The successful Consultant will be selected based upon their demonstrated ability to achieve the goals of the project through their qualifications, proposal, and interview with the selection committee.
The resulting strategic plan will be action oriented to grow a diverse and vibrant economy. The plan will provide the City with a roadmap to a future embraced by the community and which resonates within the region.
The City of South Burlington is located in the Lake Champlain Valley between the Green Mountains and the Adirondacks. The City has enjoyed a steady growth rate for decades, with a population of just over 20,000 residents in 2020. The fastest growing demographic is BIPOC. The City hosts just under 18,000 jobs (2021).
With proximity to Burlington, Vermont's largest city, UVM Medical Center and the University of Vermont (UVM), and GlobalFoundries Fab 9, and containing transportation advantages (airport, interstate, broadband superhighway) South Burlington has retained established Vermont brands such as Ben & Jerry's and attracted new companies such as Beta Technologies and OnLogic. South Burlington features several retail corridors (including the State's largest mall) and a concentration of hotels.
