Intelligent Transportation Systems Plan
French Broad River Metropolitan Planning Organization
Asheville, NC
The French Broad River Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) serves a diverse region in Western North Carolina, including urban centers such as Asheville, Hendersonville, Waynesville, and surrounding counties. The area is characterized by a mix of mountainous terrain, rural communities, and growing urban development, which presents unique transportation challenges. With a steadily increasing population, the region faces rising traffic congestion and safety concerns, making the implementation of intelligent transportation systems (ITS) critical to ensuring efficient mobility.
The French Broad River MPO is seeking a qualified firm, or team of firms, for the development of an Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) plan to enhance traffic flow, improve safety, and reduce congestion through advanced transportation technologies. The plan will evaluate and recommend ITS solutions tailored to the region's needs and will include the following elements:
- Needs Assessment
- Technology Review and Best Practices
- ITS Strategy Development
- Implementation and Phasing Plan
- Stakeholder Coordination and Public Engagement
- Final Report and Recommendations
The RFLOI outlines project details, submission requirements, and deadlines. Interested parties should review the full RFLOI and submit their responses by August 18, 2025, at 5pm.
