The City of Columbia is seeking a Planner within the Community Development Department's Planning and Zoning Division. The position will be engaged in both current and long-range planning assignments ranging from rezoning and development reviews to neighborhood planning initiatives, public engagement, and periodic update of the City's Comprehensive Plan and Unified Development Code.

The ideal candidate for this position will be an individual that is a highly-motivated self-starter capable of working in a dynamic customer-focused, deadline-driven environment significantly influenced by public involvement. The chosen candidate will join an experienced and motivated team of 6 planning professionals. The Community Development Department is comprised of two Divisions (Building and Site Development & Planning and Zoning) which employees a total of 30+ staff members. The Department provide staff support services to multiple city boards and commissions with an opportunity for the chosen candidate to experience the full-breadth of community development activities.

The City of Columbia is centrally located in the State of Missouri, has direct access to Interstate 70, and is less than 2 hours from either St. Louis or Kansas City. The City is the home to the University of Missouri, the State's flagship academic institution, Columbia College, Stephens College and Moberly Area Community College (MACC).
