About Us

The City of Raymore, (pop. 25,306), a thriving suburb of Kansas City, is experiencing rapid growth and development. We're seeking a full-time City Planner to help guide our city's future through innovative planning, collaboration, and sustainable growth.

Position Overview
As our City Planner, you will:

  • Lead and manage complex planning projects.
  • Provide strategic input on development initiatives.
  • Collaborate with various city departments such as Development Services, Economic Development, and Public Works to shape the city's future.
  • Play a pivotal role in maintaining the community's reputation as a vibrant, livable, and well-planned city for residents, businesses, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct long-term planning strategies.
  • Works collaboratively and extensively across other departments, and with developers, architects, etc...
  • Coordinate outside review for all development applications.
  • Oversee land-use planning, zoning, and development proposals.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports, maps, and designs.

What We're Looking For

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in urban planning, project management, engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: 2-3 years as a city planner, with demonstrated experience in project management and cross-departmental collaboration.
  • Skills: Demonstrated experience using Adobe Creative Suite and ArcGIS to create high-quality maps, graphics, and designs.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of municipal planning, zoning, and citizen engagement processes.
