About Us
The City of Raymore, (pop. 25,306), a thriving suburb of Kansas City, is experiencing rapid growth and development. We're seeking a full-time City Planner to help guide our city's future through innovative planning, collaboration, and sustainable growth.
Position Overview
As our City Planner, you will:
- Lead and manage complex planning projects.
- Provide strategic input on development initiatives.
- Collaborate with various city departments such as Development Services, Economic Development, and Public Works to shape the city's future.
- Play a pivotal role in maintaining the community's reputation as a vibrant, livable, and well-planned city for residents, businesses, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct long-term planning strategies.
- Works collaboratively and extensively across other departments, and with developers, architects, etc...
- Coordinate outside review for all development applications.
- Oversee land-use planning, zoning, and development proposals.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, maps, and designs.
What We're Looking For
- Education: Bachelor's degree in urban planning, project management, engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 2-3 years as a city planner, with demonstrated experience in project management and cross-departmental collaboration.
- Skills: Demonstrated experience using Adobe Creative Suite and ArcGIS to create high-quality maps, graphics, and designs.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of municipal planning, zoning, and citizen engagement processes.
