WORK SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm (Flex scheduling available, department approval required)

Are you passionate about urban planning and excited to contribute to the growth and development of a vibrant, fast-growing community? The City of Pasco invites qualified applicants to join our team as a Planner I, II, or III, where you will play a key role in shaping the future of our city.

THE ROLE:

As a Planner I/II/III, you will work within the Community and Economic Development Department to assist in long-range planning, zoning administration, comprehensive plan updates, and land use decisions. This is a unique opportunity where you can apply for one position, and based on your experience and qualifications, be considered for the appropriate level (I, II, or III).

  • Planner I: Entry-level position, focusing on foundational planning tasks and gaining experience in various planning activities.
  • Planner II: Mid-level role requiring independent project management and analysis of more complex planning issues.
  • Planner III: Advanced-level position with a focus on leading major planning projects, policy development, and mentoring junior planners.

You will collaborate with internal teams, stakeholders, and community members to develop solutions that reflect the City's growth and sustainability goals.

SALARY:

  • Planner I: $32.10 – $38.54/hour
  • Planner II: $33.40 - $40.10/hour
  • Planner III: $37.61 - $45.15/hour

QUALIFICATIONS:

(Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job.)

  • Planner I:
    • Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Public Administration, or a related field
    • Two (2) years of professional land use planning, and/or private development experience or similar relatable experience including the preparation of technical reports, and economic data collection.
  • Planner II:
    • Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Public Administration, or a related field
    • Three (3) years of professional land use planning, and/or private development experience or similar relatable experience including the preparation of technical reports, and economic data collection.
    • Demonstrated project management experience
  • Planner III:
    • Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Public Administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
    • Four (4) years of professional land use planning experience including preparation of technical reports, and economic data collection.
    • Expertise in zoning, land use, and urban development
    • Leadership experience in leading teams or projects

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification
  • Previous municipal government experience
