The City of North Port is seeking a Planning and Zoning Manager. Located along Florida's beautiful Gulf coast, the City of North Port prides itself on the use of innovative planning practices with a focus on achieving a thriving and lasting built environment for our residents. The Planning and Zoning Manager oversees Planning and Zoning Division.

General responsibilities for this position include management of division activities including special planning studies and projects, current and long-range planning functions, and supervision of division staff. The Planning and Zoning Manager also interprets and implements the Comprehensive Plan, Unified Land Development Code, and other applicable plans and codes; participates in meetings with the Planning and Zoning Advisory Board, Zoning Hearing Officer, and City Commission; composes staff reports and participates in development review; and reviews the work of employees in the division. This position manages the Planning and Zoning Division and planning and zoning components, such as comprehensive planning, development review, geographic information, impact fee, land development, short-range planning, neighborhood improvement and urban planning. Assures all planning and zoning activities are carried out in accordance with City ordinances. Work is performed under the direction of the Development Services Director.
