Join our team as a mid-level Planner under the supervision of the University Architect. You'll play a crucial role in supporting both short and long-term planning and conservation efforts to enhance Texas A&M University's built environment. Your responsibilities will include:
- Sustainability & Management: Ensuring development projects integrate sustainable practices and manage architectural, environmental, cultural, and land resources.
- Campus Master Plan: Assisting in the monitoring and coordination of the Campus Master Plan.
- Project Management: Monitors campus projects for compliance with the Campus Master Plan. Collaborates with TAMU's Landscape Architect and prepares planning data, drawings, and maps. Ensures effective communication among team members and reviews project documentation.
- Campus Standards and Reports: Assists in developing and updating campus planning and sustainable design guidelines. Produces reports, presentation materials, graphics, and maps. Coordinates data collection for planning projects. Develops processes, tracks compliance, and maintains project update reports.
- Compliance: Verifying that proposed campus projects adhere to TAMU design guidelines and standards.
This position is located in College Station, TX. Remote/Work from alternate location is not available at this time.
Who we are:
The Office of the University Architect leads the planning, design, and construction changes on campus. We provide project scope and definition, support the creation of memorable architecture, and ensure a unique sense of place. Our team conducts preliminary site planning studies, conceptual design studies, and develops the Program of Requirements (PORs). We also support the design and construction process of campus projects.
Opportunities to contribute:
We need your knowledge of principles and practices of planning in areas such as land use suitability, site analysis and urban design. Apply your knowledge by performing various aspects of campus physical planning such as studies related to area plans, land use, circulation, sustainability, environmental, and development controls. This includes developing planning studies of scope, siting, and/or cost of prospective projects to provide project development recommendations, including analysis of development impacts. You will manage multiple planning projects, client relationships and resources efficiently.
Qualifications:*
Required: Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture, Architecture, or a related field, plus 6-7 years of experience in planning (campus, regional, city planning, etc.) and working experience with AutoCAD, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign and SketchUp. Any equivalent combination of experience, education or training is acceptable.
Preferred: Master's degree in Urban Planning, experience with ArcGIS, and certification from the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP).
