Position Description:

The Assistant Town Manager performs complex professional, administrative, and managerial job activities under general supervision of the Town Manager. The position serves as the "point person" for the Town Manager regarding coordinating, directing, and overseeing Town operations and programs to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of Town services. The position serves as the direct line manager to Town Department Heads.

Minimum Skills / Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in public administration, business administration, urban planning, or a related field from an accredited college or university or combination of experience and education.
  • Broad managerial experience overseeing large scale capital projects, experience with wastewater and infrastructure is desired.
  • Experience in positions requiring professional verbal and written communication skills to include business composition, and effective writing and speaking.
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a team environment, functioning for the good of the organization over the individual.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Attends meetings of the Town Council, Planning Commission, Historical Preservation Review Board and other meetings required for the administration of the Town. Provides technical assistance, information and follow-up as needed.
  • Responds to citizen inquiries regarding Town planning and zoning regulations, historical standards, ordinances and assisting with interpretation as needed
  • Oversees Town departments assigned by the Town Manager
