Under oversight of senior department staff, develop and administer a range of programs, projects and work schedules to ensure achievement of the Regional Housing Strategy (RHS) goals. For example, review and make recommendations on zoning, land use tools and application processes based on established best practices related to RHS priorities and action items, expanding housing in general, and affordable housing development in particular. Conduct zoning ordinance evaluations using the RHS Best Practices Residential Zoning Guide to make recommendations to municipalities and other housing stakeholders to achieve RHS goals. Monitor changes in planning laws and techniques and other land development trends. Prepare recommendations, reports and related information for decision-making purposes to a wide variety of housing stakeholders. Help to coordinate division activities with other departments/ agencies as needed. Provide technical and professional advice. Assist in making presentations to supervisors, elected officials, boards, commissions, civic groups and general public. Convene and facilitate meetings. Prepare and write grant application components as assigned. Attend professional development workshops and conferences to stay abreast of trends and developments in the field of planning. Compile and analyze data and prepare statistical reports. Prepare correspondence and plans. Support RHS goals to address the intersection of housing and transportation, pathways to homeownership, housing rehabilitation, model TIF policies for housing, and sustainable development. Prepare written and oral replies to questions from elected officials, general public and other housing stakeholders. Write fact sheets and regular communication for Regional Housing News and social media. Assist with website content development and database management. Position is three year program position with the likelihood of converting to permanant staff.
